Our Student Council representatives did us proud as they visited Bracknell Forest Council Chambers to meet with newly elected Mayor, Pauline Mackenzie. Students were able to ask lots of questions about how the election process works in Bracknell; about growing political tensions with the recently declared General Election and what the general political make up of Bracknell is, before finally offering their ideas on how we can increase the number of young people voting.
An excellent start to #ParliamentWeek, this visit has generated a lot of new discussion about ways in which students can get involved in politics and how we need to ensure people are ready to vote when they turn 18 (or 16 as it may become…)
Tomorrow, our Parliament students are meeting to discuss what we can take from today’s visit and to start building student friendly guidance on politics that could help others see the value of their vote.

A huge thank you to Mary Temperton and to Bracknell Forest Council for hosting us.
