Hello Year 6’s, Parents and Carers,
I hope this finds you safe and well.
To aid transition in this unusual time we will be releasing videos on a weekly basis that we think will support you with transition from Year 6 to Year 7. I really do hope that you find these useful.
This week’s video is a mini tour of our school site, as a large part of our site is locked down at the moment we accessed as much as we could. Some of you may have visited EPCS before and are familiar with the site whereas some of you may never have been to our school before. This will hopefully give you an insight as to what our school looks like, so you can familiarise yourself with some of the main areas within school. I have enlisted the help of a Year 11 student Jamie, who will be assisting in a few of the transition videos. Please rest assured that we maintained social distancing throughout the filming process!
I am sure that Year 6 students have many questions about life at secondary school and I am really keen to answer any questions that students may have about transition. If your child has any burning questions they would like answered then please feel free to email them to transition@epschool.org
I will do my best to answer as many as possible via a Question and Answer session. I am sure many of the questions will resonate with most Year 6 students and will provide some reassurance . I will aim to get that video out to you after half term.
This week I am ‘Zooming’ with many Year 6’s teachers, who are passing on vital information so we can support your transition. I have already heard some amazing things about you and am looking forward to meeting you when I can.
We have assigned a transition song to the process and have gone with the classic, ‘Reach for the Stars’ by S Club 7! This embodies our key message for Year 6’s starting at EPCS. It’s about following your dreams and not giving up even when things may seem hard.
Exciting news, our transition packs will be sent out to you by the end of this week so please look out for these in the post. Packs include a student information booklet and some forms that need to be completed and sent back as soon as possible.
Take care and keep safe,
Miss Preston
