This year, both students and staff are developing their oracy skills and using a 4 strand framework to assess aspects of their talk.
In lessons , students have been able to try out physical, linguistic, social and emotional, and cognitive talk considering a range of different scenarios. Students have worked really well in groups and have made a great start to their oracy journey.
In Music students were being timed to fill the silence without ‘ums and ahs’ whilst in Humanities students were given thought provoking or controversial topics to discuss. In Maths, groups had to work together to solve problems which required individual research and in Business students were presenting their marketing ideas.

We look forward to seeing how much they improve and how much responsibility they take on in their groups over the coming year.
