What does this Course lead to?
Many degree courses, medicine, nursing, food industry, environmental industry and teaching are just a few careers that this A level can take you to.
What will I study
The content is organised into the eight units listed below
- Biological molecules
- Cells
- Organisms exchange substances with their environment
- Genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms
- Energy transfers in and between organisms
- Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments
- Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems
- The control of gene expression
Units 1-4 are studied during Year 12 and units 5 -8 in Year 13.
What are the benefits of studying this course and what will I gain from it?
A well respected A level that can open a lot of doors at University and a prerequisite for biology related courses. Many jobs and industries require a biology qualification.
How will I be assessed
100% exam but with a practical endorsement gained from completing 12 required practicals across two years. The exams have the following breakdown:
